Curriculum
Our course give you the chance to work with a group of energised, passionate and thoughtful health promoters. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of how health beliefs and practices are influenced by historic, socio-cultural, economic, environmental, personal and policy factors. You'll also learn the skills needed to promote the health of different populations.
Your first year will give you the background to health and healthcare in the UK, as well as an introduction to research and health promotion theory and methods.
Years two and three have fewer compulsory modules, leaving more time to concentrate on areas that interest you most. It could be global health, health policy or health informatics - getting the right information to the right person at the right time.
You’ll spend much of your final year undertaking your own individual research project but you’ll still have time to choose from a range of optional modules such as Health Promotion and Later Life, Global and Local Perspectives in Health, Infection Control and Health Service Finance.
Foundation Year
If you don’t meet the entry requirements for a bachelor’s degree, you can study this course as an ‘extended’ four-year programme. You’ll begin with a foundation year, which will prepare you for a successful transition to the degree course a year later.
By the end of the degree you’ll gain the same qualification as those obtaining direct entry to the course but you’ll take one year longer to complete your studies.
