About University for the Creative Arts

The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) was formed in 2005 as University College for the Creative Arts. It is a specialist art and design university in the south of England. The university provides and awards undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in art, design, architecture, media and communication. It was granted full university status by the Privy Council in May 2008 and adopted its current name officially in September 2008. The university has collaboration between courses is encouraged, with fine artists studying with budding film-makers, and fashion designers working alongside architects. The key strength lies in the breadth of specialist, academic disciplines that it offers. 

The university consists several campuses in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Maidstone and Rochester. These campuses are home to workshops for ceramics, glass, wood and metals where students can experiment under the supervision of technicians with extensive industry experience in their field. UCA aims to be recognised internationally for nurturing world-class talent and advancing the role of the creative arts in society. And, the university's mission is 'To excel as a university for the arts which fosters creativity through local connections and global aspirations'.
