Curriculum
AS Year
- A collection of coursework that introduces you to a broad range of graphic design: logos, illustration, advertising, traditional graphics and computer design with a gradual progression towards individual ways of working
- Contextual understanding: the study of the way graphic design works in our daily environment as well as graphic designers and design companies
A Level Year
- A Personal Investigation: a project written by the student that will develop their own ideas with contextual work of between 1000 – 3000 words to inform and extend understanding
- An externally set exam with a selection of starting points from which students will develop individual work, again placing emphasis on the preferred area of study within graphics. This includes preparation time and a 15 hour supervised exam
- Packaging for particular products or companies, learning how to communicate messages to your audience and how to stand out in an over•crowded supermarket
- Advertising; how to promote a product using colour, shock or humour
- Computer animation
- The exam and course work will be externally moderated in June
- Graphics for the music industry, CD design and promotional material
