Students from Raffles Sydney's Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Photography courses have collaborated this semester with other young creatives at The Australasian College of Beauty & Makeup in a joint brief that the two colleges hope will become a more regular activity on their academic calendars.
Titled “The Collaborative Project,” the editorial photo shoot was organised such that the project was divided into three style groups with a distinctive visual concept and each group worked with four looks within that specific concept. Designers, stylists, photographers and H&M stylists within each group developed an appropriate overall concept that could be applied to all 4 looks, with minor alterations.
Students worked alongside well-known industry professionals in the fashion, beauty and photographic arts sector such as Raffles’ own star styling lecturer Gabe Robinson (stylist on the Nine Network’s The Voice) and ACHM Head of Hair and Makeup, Roberto Napolitano.
“The final shoot was a very successful collaboration,” says Sabi Sohrabi, Programme Assistant for Fashion Marketing. “Despite a couple of unforeseen issues it went really well, thanks to the efficient and creative problem-solving of the students involved. They showed a great deal of professionalism and worked well together.”
