SINGAPORE – “These gems have life in them: their colours speak, (and) say what words fail,” leading Victorian-era author George Eliot once said.
And true to form, in yet more international exposure for our Raffles Designers, SHAO Qing Zi and Saint SHWE Yee Win have emerged as finalists of the MIJF Jewellery Design Awards 2015
Held in conjunction with the Malaysia International Jewellery Fair 2015, the MJIF Jewellery Design Awards, which is in its 5th year, aims to elevate standards of the Malaysian jewellery scene towards greater international prominence, and to help talent from the region eventually blaze a trail as global trendsetters in the industry.
Over 400 submissions from all across the globe were received this year alone, as budding student designers from the likes of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China, India, Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the USA and many more countries overwhelmingly responded.
Qing Zi and Yee Win have flown the Raffles Singapore flag high and done the college proud – and Raffles Singapore will continue identifying opportunities for our promising Raffles students to compete professionally at prestigious competitions such as the MIJF Awards, and to propel their careers upon graduating from Raffles.
