In the spirit of love, kindness, and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan, Sunway University prepared and distributed bubur lambuk to 500 individuals across various communities. As part of the University’s ongoing Campus With A Conscience initiative, the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management led this heartfelt effort to give back to society. Lending her support to the cause was Y.B. Puan Michelle Ng Mei Sze, ADUN of Subang Jaya, further emphasising the importance of community-driven efforts in fostering goodwill and togetherness.
The preparation of the traditional Ramadan porridge was carried out by dedicated faculty members and students, who worked together to cook and distribute the nourishing meal. The bubur lambuk, made with rice kindly sponsored by Jasmine Food Corporation Sdn Bhd, was shared with members of several communities, including Masjid Al-Irsyad, Surau Al-Muhajirin, Surau Shafiee, Angsana, Meranti, Goodyear Court 2, and Surau Al-Hijrah.
Professor Dato’ Elizabeth Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Education Group, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the community during this special time of year. “Ramadan is a season of reflection, gratitude, and giving. We are honoured to be able to share this meaningful tradition with our surrounding communities and hope that this small act of kindness brings joy and warmth to those receiving it.”
This initiative aligns with Sunway University’s values of community engagement and social responsibility, further strengthening its role in fostering unity and goodwill. Through such efforts, Sunway University continues to bridge the gap between education and community service, demonstrating that acts of kindness, no matter how small, can have a lasting impact.
