Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours

The Mechanical Engineering programme is a dynamic, project-based degree designed to equip graduates with the skills to tackle the Grand Challenges for Engineering and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Throughout their studies, students will engage in at least four engineering projects, with two of them addressing real-world industry challenges. These projects follow the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) framework, ensuring a hands-on approach to problem-solving and innovation.

To support their learning, students will gain proficiency in cutting-edge Industry 4.0 tools and software, including 3D printing, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and the Finite Element Method. The Sunway University Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours (BEng Hons) degree is recognised as equivalent to Lancaster University's Master of Engineering Mechanical Engineering with Honours (MEng Hons) degree. Graduates will receive dual certification from both Sunway University and Lancaster University, enhancing their credentials and global career prospects.

STPM

• CGPA 2.00 including Mathematics & one Natural Sciences subject (with minimum Grade C)

A-Level

• Minimum 12 points for Mathematics & one Natural Sciences subject (with minimum Grade D)

Australian Matriculation

• ATAR 65 (including Mathematics Methods & one Natural Sciences subject)

Monash University Foundation Year

• 65% (including Mathematics & one Natural Sciences subject)

Sunway Foundation in Science Technology

• CGPA 2.5 (including Mathematics and one Natural Sciences subject)

Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)

• Maximum 24 points from 5 subjects (all grade Bs including Mathematics and one Natural Sciences subject)

Diploma

• CGPA 2.5 from any diploma in Engineering, Science or Technology

Matriculation/Foundation

• CGPA 2.5 (including Mathematics and one Natural Sciences subject)

IB Diploma

• Completed with a minimum of 25 points (excluding bonus points), (including Mathematics and one Natural Sciences subject)

Other Qualifications

• CGPA 2.5 equivalent and any other qualifications will be considered on a case-to-case basis.

APEL.A

• An APEL.A Certificate (APEL T-6) (Recognition of Prior Learning)

Specific Requirements

• Natural Sciences subjects are Physics, Biology or Chemistry. Physics will be given preference.
• SPM or equivalent in Science stream will be given preference.

Additional Requirements for Certain International Students

International students from certain countries that want to take some Sunway University degree programmes (for example programmes in partnership with Lancaster University) will need to take and pass our online six-month International Preparatory Programme (IPP). This is a requirement to enroll in a Sunway degree programme that also leads to a degree certificate being awarded by Sunway’s partner institution. Students are required to pass all the subjects with a grade C or above to progress to the degree.
