Health Informatics and Analytics is an interdisciplinary field that integrates healthcare, information technology, and artificial intelligence. IMU’s programme is designed to cultivate the next generation of researchers and practitioners who will drive innovation and transformation in healthcare. Students will develop the expertise to enhance patient care through advanced digital solutions, guided by a diverse team of experts spanning computing and health-related disciplines.
IMU provides students with a direct pathway to prestigious postgraduate programmes, including the Master of Science in Digital Health Systems at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, and the Doctor of Health Informatics programme at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA. The programme equips students with a strong foundation in health informatics and analytics, enabling them to apply key principles in real-world healthcare settings. Students will also gain an understanding of the value of health information, the integration of health information systems, and the role of information-related technologies in modern healthcare delivery.
Designed to accommodate working professionals, the programme incorporates a blended learning approach, allowing students to balance their studies with work, family, and other commitments. Entry Requirements
Academic Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment
- A Bachelor’s degree in Non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment as determined by the HEP to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that are equivalent to their working experience in the Computing or related fields; or
- A Bachelor’s degree in Non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to appropriate prerequisite courses;
Additional Criteria:
- Students without statistical background must take “Statistics Thinking for Health Analytics” (Semester 1)
- Students without computing background must take “Introduction to Computer Science and Programming” (Semester 1)

- TOEFL (iBT) : Overall score of 46; or
- Cambridge English : Advanced (CAE) : Overall score of 160; or

- Pearson Test of English (PTE) : Overall score of 51;

- International students who graduated from any Malaysian or other institutions where the curriculum is delivered in English.
