Entry Requirements

Any one of these:

  1. Master’s Degree:

    • Accepted by the HEP Senate.

  2. Equivalent Qualifications:

    • Other qualifications equivalent to a master’s degree, accepted by the HEP Senate.

  3. Candidates Without Related Qualifications or Experience: Must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the HEP.

Note:

  • No direct entry from a bachelor’s degree to a doctoral degree.

  • Bachelor’s degree candidates registered for a master’s programme may apply to convert to a doctoral programme within 1 year of registration, subject to:

    • Demonstrated competency and capability in doctoral-level research.

    • Rigorous internal evaluation by the HEP.

    • Approval by the HEP Senate


Bachelor’s Degree Entry (Exceptional Cases)

  1. First-Class Bachelor’s Degree (CGPA ≥ 3.67):

    • In the field or related fields (academic or TVET programme).

    • Must undergo internal assessment.

    • Meet any additional requirements set by the HEP.

  2. Conversion from Master’s to Doctoral Programme:

    • Within 1 year (full-time) or 2 years (part-time) of master’s registration.

    • Demonstrated competency and capability in doctoral-level research.

    • Rigorous internal evaluation by the HEP.

    • Approval by the HEP Senate.

Curriculum

Part 1: Coursework

  • Objective: Deepen knowledge and expertise in medical physiology.

  • Core Courses:

    • Fundamental physiological systems (e.g., cardiovascular, respiratory, etc.).

  • Electives:

    • Specialization in a specific area for thesis research.

  • Research Methodology (RMSE):

    • Equip students with skills for independent research.


Part 2: Thesis Research

  • Objective: Conduct original research under faculty supervision.

  • Focus:

    • Delve into a specific physiological topic aligned with the chosen area of expertise.

  • Outcome:

    • Dissertation detailing research methodology, findings, and contribution to the field of medical physiology.
