The Master of Arts (MA) program at UOW Malaysia’s Glenmarie campus is a research-focused program designed for students looking to deepen their expertise in the humanities and social sciences beyond their undergraduate studies.
Offering flexibility, the MA allows students to tailor their specialization according to their research interests and career goals, in consultation with an academic research supervisor. It is available part-time aswell which would allow students to finish the program in 3-6 years. This program emphasizes critical analysis, problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation.
Focusing on enhancing communication, management, and entrepreneurial skills, the MA prepares students for success in both academic and professional fields. It’s ideal for independent learners who are committed to advancing their careers through research and academic growth.

Entry Requirements
Academic Qualification Requirements for UOW Malaysia:
Bachelor’s Degree:
- Minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent; or
- CGPA 2.50 to 2.74 or equivalent, subject to institutional approval; or
- CGPA of 2.00 to 2.49 or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field, subject to institutional approval.
English Language Requirement:
For Local Students:
- Band 5 in MUET (Malaysian University English Test).
For International Students:
- Band 6.0 in IELTS; or
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 60 (IBT) or 488 (PBT); or
- Pearson English Test: Score of 59 and above.
Note:
- If English language requirements are not met, students may be required to take additional English module(s) at UOW Malaysia.
Curriculum
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Students will create a research proposal that outlines and guides their research process from start to finish. To strengthen their proposal, students must also complete a semester of Research Methodology and attend research seminars and workshops throughout the course.
RESEARCH
Once the research proposal is approved, students will receive guidance from their supervisors as they begin their research. They will work independently on their research projects.
DISSERTATION
After completing their research, students will document their findings and the research process in a dissertation. For a Master's by research, the dissertation is typically no longer than 60,000 words.
VIVA – VOCE
After finishing the research and dissertation, students will undergo an oral examination, led by experts in the field.
