About
The Master of Design (by Research) is for the researcher pursuing design research studies. This programme emphasises on the combination of Arts & Sciences to promote Business & Technology, which requires the researcher/s to collaborate with an organisation for their research endeavour.
This programme is unique giving potential researchers the ability to chart their own customized pathway to consider multidisciplinary problems beyond the scope of traditional boundaries of individual design approach. The flexible approach allows resesarchers to collaborate locally or regionally with research labs or organization to build connections that will drive profesional success.

Entry Requirements
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor Tier 1
- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.75 in the relevant field, as accepted by the HEP’s Senate; OR
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) or equivalent with at least CGPA of 2.50 in the relevant field and has not achieved CGPA 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; OR
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) or equivalent with CGPA of less than 2.50 in the relevant field and a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the relevant field; OR
- Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government and Pass an interview OR submission of a portfolio determined by the HEP as required.
International Students
- Required to achieve a minimum Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with Band 4 OR its equivalent score of 6.0 in IELTS. (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score) The validity of the IELTS or equivalent is within 2 years from the date of the examination.
*Any of the condition of the above would require student’s research proposal to be approved.

Students are required to pass the Research Methodology modules (6 credit hours) in the first year of their candidature.
