Entry Requirements
- You must be employed for a least 4 hours per week (or the equivalent in a voluntary capacity) in an appropriate educational role and setting. You will also need to have three GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including English Language, plus you will need to have obtained, a pass in an A level or NVQ3 (or equivalent). We would expect you to have gained the knowledge and understanding necessary to undertake study at higher education level through developing professional awareness in the context of your work.
Curriculum
Developing your thinking processes is an important part of this course so writing reflective accounts of your performance and drafting action plans are essential components to assess your ability.
These will demonstrate your understanding of personal development needs, workplace development and organisational awareness. You will also create your own personal development plans and record learning through a Personal Development Portfolio. Work-based assessment is a major part of the overall course assessment and this will include work based tasks, creation of resources to support learning, observation of the practice of professionals and reflection of organisational practice. Understanding and reflection of the workplace organisation and work placement research will also be part of your work-based assessment. For each year of the programme there will be three observations of your practice; one by your tutor, one by your mentor and one by a nominated peer.
