Entry Requirements
For Domestic and those International students not required to complete the English Language Enhancement course:
- To be eligible for the award of Bachelor of Arts (BA), a student must acquire 240 credit points as prescribed below:
Students undertaking two non-language majors
- complete 80 credit points of courses in Year 1 comprising:
- 60 credit points of core courses and
- 20 credit points of required first year courses for majors;
- complete 160 credit points of courses in Year 2 and 3 comprising:
- two 60 credit point majors and
- 40 credit points of Free-choice electives;
- complete no more than 100 credit points of first year level courses;
- complete at least 60 credit points of third year level courses.
Students undertaking one non-language major plus one language major
- complete 80 credit points of courses in Year 1 comprising:
- 60 credit points of core courses and
- 20 credit points of required first year courses for majors;
- complete 160 credit points of courses in Year 2 and 3 comprising:
- one 60 credit point major and
- one 80 credit point language major and
- 20 credit points of Free-choice electives;
- complete no more than 100 credit points of first year level courses;
- complete at least 60 credit points of third year level courses.
For International students required to complete the English Language Enhancement course:
- To be eligible for the award of Bachelor of Arts (BA), a student must acquire 240 credit points as prescribed below:
Students undertaking two non-language majors
- complete 80 credit points of courses in Year 1 comprising:
- 60 credit points of core courses and
- 20 credit points of required first year courses for majors;
- complete 10 credit points for the English Language Enhancement course Language and Communication for Arts and Social Sciences;
- complete 150 credit points of courses in Year 2 and 3 comprising:
- two 60 credit point majors and
- 30 credit points of Free-choice electives;
- complete no more than 100 credit points of first year level courses;
- complete at least 60 credit points of third year level courses.
Students undertaking one non-language major plus one language major
- complete 80 credit points of courses in Year 1 comprising:
- 60 credit points of core courses and
- 20 credit points of required first year courses for majors;
- complete 10 credit points for the English Language Enhancement course Language and Communication for Arts and Social Sciences;
- complete 150 credit points of courses in Year 2 and 3 comprising:
- one 60 credit point major and
- one 80 credit point language major and
- 10 credit points of Free-choice electives;
- complete no more than 100 credit points of first year level courses;
- complete at least 60 credit points of third year level courses.
Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level and Type
- The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. This qualification is accredited as an AQF Level 7 - Bachelor Degree.
English Language Enhancement
- All undergraduate International students admitted from 2010 are required to complete an English Language Enhancement course unless specific criteria are met as specified in Section 1.2 of the Bachelor Degree Policy - Schedule 1: Requirement to Complete the English Language Enhancement Course.
The following course must be completed in the first semester of study:

- Language and Communication for Arts and Social Sciences
- Fundamentals of Communication
- Required first year course for major
- Foundations of Academic Writing
- World History
- Foundations of Western Culture
- Required first year course for major
Year 2 and 3
Students must complete the following courses:
- Ideas, Issues and Inquiry
- Two non-language majors AND
- Free-choice electives

- One non-language major AND
- One language major AND
- Free-choice electives
